Alicante-Elche Airport by Minibus, for the Costa Blanca

The airport carries Alicante's name but sits in the municipality of Elche, south-west of the city. From there a minibus can take your group to the old quarter of Alicante, along the coast to Benidorm or inland to the castle villages.

Finding each other at arrivals

There is no published pick-up point for groups at this airport, so the place where you meet your driver, and where the vehicle stops, is arranged with the operator in advance. Tour companies mostly have their desks on floor -2, with one more in the arrivals hall on floor 0, and cars with driver collect on floor 0. Once everyone has their bags, the walk out is short.

Alicante and Benidorm

The road to the Ayuntamiento in central Alicante is about 16 km, around 25 minutes. Benidorm's old town is about 58 km, about an hour by the AP-7. Benidorm runs a low-emission zone in its centre and along the beachfront: vehicles with a C label, which for larger vehicles generally means registered from 2014, drive in, while older ones need an authorisation.

If you are staying in Altea or Calp, both lie a little further up the coast; give us the hotel name and the operator plans the approach.

The terminals in brief

  • One passenger terminal

Worth knowing at Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport

  • Benidorm (the old town) is about 58 km by road, about 1 h by coach in light traffic.
  • There is no railway station at the airport.
  • Buses also link the airport with Elche, Santa Pola, Torrevieja, Murcia, Cartagena and Costa Blanca towns such as Altea, Dénia and Jávea.
  • Bus line C6 runs every day from the departures road to the centre of Alicante and the railway station; at Luceros it connects with the TRAM network, which runs along the Costa Blanca to Benidorm and Dénia.
  • The airport lies in the municipality of Elche; Aena places it about 9 km south-west of Alicante, and the road route to the centre is longer.

Where a minibus beats a coach

The road up to the Castillo de Santa Bárbara is open to minibuses up to 8.50 m long and 6,800 kg, but not to full-size coaches, whose groups use the lifts from the Postiguet beach. With a minibus that fits those limits, your group can go up by road instead. Elche's Palmeral, a World Heritage palm grove, is about 29 km from Alicante, and the hill village of Guadalest about 63 km.

What travellers ask us

How would we manage by public transport?

Trains do not reach the terminal. Bus C6 runs daily from the departures road to central Alicante and the station, and links with the TRAM at Luceros. For a family with heavy cases, a vehicle to the door is simpler.

Can we go straight to Murcia or Cartagena instead?

Yes. Cartagena is about 123 km from Alicante and Murcia about 82 km. Give us the address and the operator plans the route from the terminal.

We are coming for the Hogueras in June. Anything to know?

The festival fills central Alicante around 20 to 24 June, and many streets close. Ask for an early-morning or late-evening arrival transfer and expect the driver to stop at the edge of the closures.
