Segovia, the Aqueduct and the Villages Around It
Segovia is compact enough to see in a day and lovely enough to stay for two. A minibus brings your group close to the Aqueduct, loops beneath the walls for the classic view of the Alcázar, and still leaves time for La Granja or a village before dinner.
Stepping off by the Aqueduct
Tourist vehicles drop their passengers on the Avenida de la Vía Roma, a few steps from the Aqueduct, and may reach that stop only along the Vía Roma itself. Buses may not use the Avenida del Padre Claret, and with more than nine seats most minibuses count as buses. From there the Plaza Mayor, the cathedral and, at the far tip of the walled town, the Alcázar are all on foot.
While you explore, the driver waits at a coach area listed by the tourism board: the marked bus bays on the Alameda de la Fuencisla, or the "Velódromo" park on the Paseo de Ezequiel González by the Cándido roundabout. At the agreed time the minibus returns to Vía Roma.

The panoramic road below the walls
With your own vehicle, take the panoramic route. It runs one way only, from the Vía Roma along the Paseo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán and over the Puente de San Marcos to the Alameda de la Fuencisla, with the Alcázar high above the meeting of the Eresma and Clamores rivers. The restored Royal Mint stands along the way. Buses of up to 19 tonnes, 13 m long, 2.55 m wide and 4 m high are admitted, limits a minibus clears with ease.
Segovia's low-emission ordinance for the walled town was annulled by the regional High Court in May 2025, and a new one is being drafted. The operator checks whatever rule applies on the date of your visit.

Palaces, castles and old villages
The royal palace and gardens of La Granja, and the Palacio de Riofrío, are each about 25 minutes away. Turégano and the village of Pedraza are both under an hour. Coca's castle and Sepúlveda take a little longer, and San Lorenzo de El Escorial or Ávila about 1 h 5 min and 1 h 15 min.
What travellers ask us
Can we do Segovia as a day out from Madrid?
Easily. The Puerta del Sol is about 95 km away, roughly 1 h 35 min, so you can leave after breakfast, see the Aqueduct, the cathedral and the Alcázar, and add La Granja before heading back. Barajas Terminal 4 is about 105 km, if the day ends with a flight.
Our minibus is a high-roof model. Will it fit the panoramic route?
Yes. The limit is 4 m high and 2.55 m wide, well above any minibus. Only the direction is fixed: the route is one way, so the driver joins it from the Vía Roma and leaves by the Cuesta de los Hoyos or the road towards the CL-605.
Is Toledo possible from Segovia on the same trip?
It is about 164 km, around 2 h 25 min, so Toledo works better as its own day or as a stop on the way south.
