Granada and the Alhambra with Your Own Minibus

Most groups come to Granada for one place, and the Alhambra runs on the clock. A minibus that knows the way to the monument's own car park takes one worry off the morning, so your group can arrive calm and in good time for the palaces.

Keeping the Nasrid Palaces time

Each ticket is printed with a set slot for entering the Nasrid Palaces. Miss it and that part of the visit is lost. A full visit of the Alcazaba, the palaces, the Partal and the Generalife takes about three hours. Tickets are personal, so everyone carries an original identity document.

Groups are capped at 30, teachers or leaders included. Tourist groups need a licensed guide, and groups larger than six use a wireless headset system. The ticket offices sell same-day tickets only, so book well ahead.

Arriving at the monument

The Patronato runs a guarded car park leading up to the entrance pavilion. Coaches use area P-4, the first one you reach, and P-1 is kept for adapted vehicles. The road up comes off the ring road via the Ronda Sur, and it lies outside the low-emission zone, so access to the car park stays open.

Airports for Granada

Places worth a stop in Granada

  • Sacromonte — Cave district along the Darro valley.
  • Catedral de Granada and Capilla Real — In the city centre near Gran Vía de Colón.
  • Albaicín and Mirador de San Nicolás — Hilltop Moorish quarter opposite the Alhambra, with steep, narrow streets; groups go on foot or by minibus.
  • Alhambra coach park — The Patronato de la Alhambra runs a public car park, open and guarded 24 hours, from the cemetery roundabout to the entrance pavilion with the ticket offices. Coaches and motorhomes use their own area, P-4, the first one reached; P-1 is for adapted vehicles. Coaches arrive by the Granada ring road southbound (towards Motril) and the signs to the Alhambra via the Ronda Sur.
  • La Alhambra and Generalife (timed tickets) — Four areas can be visited: Alcazaba, Palacios Nazaríes (Nasrid Palaces), Partal and Generalife; a visit takes about three hours. Every ticket carries a fixed entry time for the Nasrid Palaces, which must be kept, or the right to enter them is lost (300 people every half hour). Tickets are personal: visitors must carry an original identity document and may be checked. Groups are at most 30 people, including teachers or the group leader. Tourist groups must be led by a licensed, accredited tourist guide. Groups larger than six must use a wireless guiding system (microphone and earphones). Groups may not merge during the visit and must follow the route set for them. The ticket offices sell only same-day tickets, subject to availability, so groups book ahead.

Easy places to be collected

  • Palacio de Congresos / Paseo del Violón
  • Camino de Ronda / Recogidas
  • Alhambra (hotels inside and beside the monument)
  • Realejo
  • Albaicín
  • Plaza Nueva / Carrera del Darro
  • Centro / Gran Vía / Catedral

The Albaicín, the city and the mountains

Cameras guard the restricted streets of the Albaicín, the Realejo and pieces of the centre, and those lanes are too tight for big vehicles. So people climb on foot to the San Nicolás viewpoint, hop on the little city buses, or use a smaller vehicle if the operator has a permit for those streets.

Beyond the city, the ski station at Pradollano is under an hour, the cave houses of Guadix about an hour, and Pampaneira in the Alpujarras about 1 h 30 min of mountain road. Nerja and the coast are about 1 h 25 min away.

What travellers ask us

Can a minibus enter Granada's low-emission zone?

Yes. Regular and private-hire buses and minibuses are on the list of vehicles with free access, with no authorisation needed. That was the position in October 2026; it is rechecked before you travel.

Where do we meet the driver at Granada airport?

Aena publishes no pick-up point for group vehicles there, so the meeting point is agreed when you book. The airport is about 30 minutes from the centre. Tall minibuses cannot use its covered car park, where the headroom is just 2.5 m.

Is Malaga airport a sensible alternative?

It has more flights, but it is about 137 km away, around 2 h 15 min, so plan the arrival day gently.
