Getting the Squad to the Match Together
Sixteen players and their kit fit one minibus. Add coaches, a physio and a few parents, and a midi-coach starts to make sense. Whatever the size, the team travels as one and arrives ready to warm up.
Picking the right size
A minibus carries 9 to 16 passengers plus the driver. Its luggage space at the back fills quickly once every seat is taken and the kit bags arrive. Once the staff come along, a midi-coach of around thirty seats brings a real luggage hold, and a youth tournament with three or four age groups may fill a full-size coach.
The licence follows the vehicle: up to 16 passengers and 8 m long, the driver holds a D1; anything bigger needs a full D. The operator matches driver and vehicle, so all you send is the head count.

Tournaments and away weekends
One handy rule: on a one-off tour, the driver's weekly rest can wait for as long as 12 days, and since 2024 that holds for trips within Spain as well as abroad. That makes a week-long tournament or a pre-season tour with one driver much easier. Daily limits still apply, so long transfer days include proper breaks.
Belts are worn wherever fitted. Standing passengers would cut the bus's top speed to 80 km/h, one more reason for the whole team to sit down and buckle up.
Rules worth knowing first
- On a single occasional coach trip, national or international, the driver may postpone the weekly rest for up to 12 days; since 2024 this applies to national trips too
Match days at the big grounds
Spanish venues change their names with sponsors. Atlético play at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, the old WiZink Center in Madrid is now the Movistar Arena, and Mallorca's ground is Son Moix. Use the name printed on your ticket when you send the booking, so the driver heads for the right entrance.
Barcelona's Spotify Camp Nou reopened in November 2025 while works carry on, and Real Zaragoza are at the temporary Ibercaja Estadio through 2026-27. Streets near big grounds fill early, so allow extra time and agree a pick-up point away from the crowds.
What travellers ask us
Can families travel with the team?
Yes, if there are seats. Many clubs book one vehicle for the players and a second for families, so each can leave on its own timetable.
Is there room for kit and equipment?
In a minibus, only if some seats stay empty. A midi-coach or a coach has an underfloor hold, which suits bulky bags and a physio table.
Can the driver wait during the game?
Yes. The vehicle is hired whole for the booked time, and the operator agrees where it waits near the ground.
