Barcelona-El Prat: Your Minibus Waits at the Right Door
At El Prat, Aena lists set places for group vehicles, including a separate area for minibuses. That makes the first hour easy, provided you know which of the two terminals you are landing at.
T1 and T2 are separate buildings
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are linked only by a free shuttle bus, so a wrong guess costs time. At T1, Aena lists coach places on level 0, by Arrivals, in a North Zone and a South Zone, with a separate area on the same level for private-hire minibuses. At T2, groups are collected from numbered bays at T2A and T2C. Hotel shuttles use other spots, so ignore those signs.
Tell us the terminal on your booking and the operator confirms the zone or bay with your driver. If one half of the party flies into each terminal, allow extra time for the shuttle.

Rules that reach minibuses too
In Barcelona, anything with nine or more seats, driver included, needs a Zona Bus permit to stop or park in the marked group spaces, and the busy sights such as the Sagrada Família and Park Güell take booked ten-minute stops. A minibus registered outside Spain must also be entered in the AMB register before it drives into the low-emission zone, which can take up to 15 working days. Partners based in Barcelona already handle this; it matters only if your own vehicle is coming from abroad.
The terminals in brief
- Terminal T2 (buildings T2A, T2B and T2C), a separate terminal reached by the free shuttle bus
- Terminal T1
Worth knowing at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport
- The Port of Barcelona cruise terminals on the Moll Adossat are about 20 km by road from Terminal T1, about 35 min by coach in light traffic.
- Metropolitan bus line 46 runs to the Plaça d'Espanya, and night lines N17 and N18 to the Plaça de Catalunya.
- A free shuttle bus links T1 and T2 around the clock; allow extra time for the transfer between terminals.
- Rodalies line R2 Nord leaves from the station at Terminal T2 (level 0); Terminal T1 has no railway station.
- Metro line 9 Sud has stations at Terminal T1 (level 0) and Terminal T2.
- The Aerobús A1 (Terminal T1) and A2 (Terminal T2) run to the Plaça de Catalunya, with stops in the city centre.
From the runway to the city or the ship
From T1 it is about 17 km to Plaça de Catalunya, about half an hour in light traffic, and about 14 km from T2, nearer 25 minutes. If you are joining a cruise, the Moll Adossat cruise terminals lie some 20 km from T1, about 35 minutes; check the terminal named on your cruise documents, as several are being replaced.
What travellers ask us
Can we take the train from Terminal 1?
No. T1 has no railway station; the Rodalies line leaves from T2 only. The Aerobús and metro line 9 Sud serve both terminals, which suits a couple with light bags better than a family with car seats.
Can the minibus go straight to Sitges or Montserrat?
Yes. Sitges is about 39 km from the city centre and Montserrat about 60 km, roughly an hour and a quarter. A morning landing leaves time for an afternoon at the monastery before checking in.
What size vehicle should a wedding party of twenty book?
Two minibuses, or one midi-coach of 29 to 35 seats if the luggage is modest. Suitcases, garment bags and gifts take room, so list them and the operator will suggest the right mix.
