Coach Rental Across Spain

Santiago de Compostela, for Pilgrims and Their Families

Plenty of groups come to Santiago to welcome someone off the Camino, or to walk the final stretch together. A minibus takes care of the airport, the bags and the trips to the coast, so your time in the city can be spent in the Praza do Obradoiro rather than on logistics.

The bay on Xoán XXIII

Tourist vehicles use the Dársena de autobuses on the Avenida de Xoán XXIII, run by the city's transport company, about 200 m from the cathedral. It is for setting down and picking up only: each entry allows 15 minutes, and one paid ticket covers as many entries as needed on the same day. So the driver can drop you in the morning, leave, and return for you at the hour you choose.

The old town is pedestrian, and the city has made it its low-emission zone too. Hotels inside it are reached on foot, with the luggage taken across separately, which is worth arranging in advance. No official long-stay coach park was found, so the operator decides where the minibus waits between drop-off and pick-up.

A Holy Year on the way

2027 is a Holy Year, an Ano Santo Xacobeo, because 25 July falls on a Sunday. More pilgrims and groups are expected, and hotels are in heavy demand from the end of 2026, so if your family is planning around someone's arrival, book rooms and transport early.

A lovely way to finish together is to be dropped at Monte do Gozo, the hill on the Camino Francés east of the city where pilgrims first see the cathedral towers, and walk the rest of the way in.

What travellers ask us

Where does the minibus meet us at the airport?

Aena describes a bus bay in the express area on the Arrivals level, in front of the terminal, behind its own barrier. Stays there are short, with a limited free time and charges after it. The airport is about 14 km from the Obradoiro, roughly 30 minutes.

Can we be taken to our hotel in the old town?

Only to its edge. The minibus stops at the Xoán XXIII bay or another point the operator agrees, you walk in, and the suitcases follow separately.

We are attending an event at the Cidade da Cultura. Can the minibus shuttle us?

Yes. The complex is on Monte Gaiás, south-east of the old town, and the Palacio de Congresos is in San Lázaro on the east side, so both are a short ride from most hotels.
