Malaga and the Costa del Sol in a Minibus

Malaga is where many groups land, and it deserves more than a night on the way somewhere else. With a minibus and a driver, you can climb to the Alcazaba, see the Picasso museum and still spend the afternoon in a white village above the sea.

The historic centre and its zone

Cameras control who enters the protected historic centre, so the minibus stops on its fringe, leaving the Cathedral, Calle Larios and the Museo Picasso a short walk away. No official list of set-down points turned up, so the operator picks the closest stop.

Around 404 hectares of the central city also form a low-emission zone. Unlabelled vehicles registered elsewhere have been barred since December 2025, and in December 2026 the ban extends to non-local label B vehicles. The city page does not mention private-hire coaches, so the operator checks the rule for your vehicle before travel.

White villages and the coast

Mijas takes about 40 minutes. Nerja and the village of Frigiliana are each about an hour east, so the two make a natural pair. The dolmens of Antequera take under an hour inland.

Marbella is about an hour along the coast. Ronda is about 2 h 10 min each way, which is a full day with an early start.

Arriving on a cruise ship

The Caminito del Rey

The walkway through the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, near Ardales and El Chorro, is about 62 km from the centre but around 1 h 35 min by road. Visits are booked in advance, so fix your time slot first and plan the departure from it. Pack water and good shoes: the minibus drops you at the start and meets you at the other end as arranged.

What travellers ask us

Where does the driver meet us at Malaga airport?

Aena sets no group pick-up spot here; you and the operator choose one when booking. On floor 0, the baggage hall holds the tour-operator desks. The city centre is about 13 km away, roughly 20 minutes in light traffic.

Can a cruise group visit Granada from Malaga?

Granada is about 2 h 5 min from the centre each way. With Alhambra tickets fixed to an entry time, it fits a long port call only if the timings are planned carefully.

Is Seville possible as a day trip?

It is about 208 km, roughly 3 h 10 min each way. Drivers' hours make that a very long day, so most groups stay a night.
