Cádiz and the Sherry Triangle by Minibus
Cádiz and Jerez make a natural pair for a small group: the cathedral, the Roman theatre and La Caleta one day, and the bodegas and the horses of Jerez, about 35 minutes away, the next. With your own minibus, nobody has to choose between the tasting and the drive home.
The old town and its new zone
Cádiz opened a low-emission zone at the end of May 2026, with a six-month trial before fines begin. It covers the old town and part of the Paseo Marítimo, not the ring road around them. Vehicles registered in Cádiz may enter whatever their label; others need the C, ECO or zero-emission label in 2026, and only ECO or zero-emission from 2027. How tourist coaches and minibuses are treated is still unconfirmed, which is why the operator verifies entry for your vehicle.
No official set-down points were found for the old town either, so the operator confirms where you step off. After that it is all on foot: the cathedral on the seafront, the Roman theatre in the Barrio del Pópulo, the camera obscura in the Torre Tavira and the little beach of La Caleta between its two castles.

Jerez, El Puerto and Sanlúcar
The three sherry towns are all close. El Puerto de Santa María is about 30 minutes away, Jerez about 35 and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, home of manzanilla, about an hour. Jerez adds the Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre and its Alcázar to the bodegas, so a full day there needs little driving. The driver of a vehicle with more than nine seats must stay under 0.3 g/l of alcohol, a lower limit than for ordinary drivers, while your group enjoys the tastings.
On world-championship weekends at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, roads, hotels and parking around Jerez fill up, so plan early.

White towns and the far south
Medina Sidonia, Vejer and Arcos de la Frontera are each about an hour away. Tarifa and the Roman ruins at Baelo Claudia take nearer two, and Grazalema a little over two. Sevilla is about 2 h and Ronda about 2 h 30 min, which makes both long days rather than easy outings.
What travellers ask us
Which airport is closest?
Jerez, about 44 km from Cádiz cathedral and roughly 55 minutes. It has a tourist-coach park reached from the Arrivals level, next to the terminal, with a limited free time. Sevilla airport is about 132 km, around two hours.
Will our minibus still get into the old town in 2027?
That is not certain yet. From 2027 vehicles from outside Cádiz need the ECO or zero-emission label, and the treatment of tourist vehicles is unconfirmed, so the operator checks the rule and the vehicle before your date.
Can we stay in Jerez instead of Cádiz?
Yes. Jerez city centre and El Puerto de Santa María are both good bases, and the airport is only about 14 km from the centre of Jerez, around 25 minutes.
