From the Ship to the Hotel, Airport or Hills
Spain's main cruise ports, Barcelona, Palma, Málaga and Valencia, sit close to their city centres and airports. A minibus with a driver takes your party and its suitcases straight from the terminal, or out on a shore day of your own design.
Barcelona
Most calls are on the Moll Adossat; the World Trade Center terminal, nearer the old town, handles cruises only until the end of 2026. The port is reshaping its terminals, so go by the terminal on your cruise documents. Your minibus can pull in to load people and cases, then must move on, since parking in the cruise area is not allowed. Airport Terminal 1 is about 20 km from the Adossat, around 35 minutes.

Palma, Málaga and Valencia
In Palma, ships berth on either the Dique del Oeste or the Muelle de Poniente, so check which before booking. The Dique del Oeste is about 14 km from the airport and about 5 km from the cathedral. Palma limits cruise calls, which keeps the busiest days in check.
In Málaga, big ships use the Muelle de Levante, at Terminal A or B, and small ones the Palmeral terminal beside the centre; each has a public area for pick-ups. The airport is about 14 km away. Valencia's two berths lie at the port's northern entrance, around 18 km from the airport. The port firms up call dates just a day in advance, so it pays to look again the evening before.
Rules worth knowing first
- In Barcelona, vehicles may drop off and pick up passengers and luggage in the cruise area but may not park there; a cruise shuttle bus links the Adossat terminals with the city centre
- Málaga's large ships use Terminals A and B on the Muelle de Levante; smaller ships use the Palmeral terminal next to the city centre; there are public pick-up and drop-off areas at both
A shore day of your own
A private shore day suits a family or a small party who want to go their own way. From the Adossat, Montserrat is about 62 km, roughly 1 h 25 min. From Málaga, Granada is about 131 km, some 2 h 10 min each way, which leaves a tight window at the Alhambra. Always keep a margin for the return to the ship.
What travellers ask us
What if the ship arrives late?
Send the ship's name and scheduled call time with the booking. If the call changes, tell us as soon as you know, and the pick-up is moved with the operator.
Is there room for cruise luggage?
A minibus has rear luggage space that fills when every seat is taken. For a fortnight's suitcases, consider a midi-coach with a hold.
Can we go from the ship to the airport via the city?
Yes. A few hours in town between the port and a flight works well; just leave generous time for check-in and the airport's busy approach roads.
