Arriving in Mallorca: Palma Airport by Minibus

On Mallorca everything starts at the one terminal at Palma. Coaches and drivers for transfers are based on the island, so the minibus that meets you is a local one, ready for the villages, the coves and the mountain.

How the arrivals area works

Aena has reorganised the outdoor Arrivals area by type of transport, and group vehicles stop in front of the terminal. The time there is short: a limited period is free for collecting passengers, and staying longer is charged for the whole time. That is why drivers wait elsewhere until you are through.

Drivers park up in a free waiting zone beside the long-stay parking, shared by coaches, cars with driver and taxis, with no time limit and with a canteen, toilets and flight screens. Your driver watches your flight there, then moves to the terminal as your bags come off.

Palma, the port and the hotels

It is some 10 km to La Seu, Palma's cathedral, around 20 minutes when the roads allow. If a ship is next, the Dique del Oeste berths lie some 14 km off, nearer 25 minutes; Palma's port has several berths, so give us the one on your cruise documents. Central Palma has a low-emission zone inside the ring of avenues, and from 2027 label B vehicles are excluded too; the operator matches the vehicle to the rule.

The terminals in brief

  • One passenger terminal (Arrivals on level 0, Departures on level 2)

Worth knowing at Palma de Mallorca Airport

  • The cruise berths on the Dique del Oeste (Dic de l'Oest) in the Port of Palma are about 14 km by road, about 25 min by coach in light traffic.
  • There is no railway station at the airport.
  • Island buses (TIB, Aerotib lines) link the airport with resorts around Mallorca.
  • The city's airport bus line A1 stops at Arrivals (level 0) and Departures (level 2).

Into the Tramuntana

A small group sees Mallorca at its best on the mountain side. From Palma, Valldemossa is about 20 km and Sóller about 25 km. The road down to Sa Calobra is all hairpin bends, about 1 h 40 min each way from Palma, and is far kinder in a minibus than in a full-size coach.

What travellers ask us

Can we get into Palma by rail?

Not from here: no railway reaches the terminal. City bus A1 stops at both Arrivals and Departures, and the island's Aerotib buses run to the resorts, which works for light travellers but not for a family with car seats.

Our hotel is in a resort, not in Palma. Is that fine?

Of course. Tell us the hotel and the number of bags, and the operator plans the route. Pollença and Alcúdia, in the north, are each roughly an hour from Palma.

What happens if our flight is delayed?

Because the driver waits in the holding area rather than at the kerb, a delay simply means a later move to the terminal. Your quote states how a long wait is handled.
